Check the lubrication system before using the diesel generator set

May 20, 2022
The task of the lubrication system of diesel generator sets is to send clean, suitable temperature lubricating oil to each surface for lubrication at a certain pressure. The lubrication system has a crucial impact on the performance and service life of the generator, so it is used daily. The lubrication system should be checked before the diesel generator set.

The task of the diesel generator set lubrication system is to send clean, suitable temperature lubricating oil to each surface for lubrication at a certain pressure, so that a certain oil film layer is formed between the two friction surfaces to avoid dry friction and reduce frictional resistance. Reduce mechanical wear and reduce power consumption, thereby improving the reliability and durability of diesel engine work. The lubrication system has a crucial impact on the performance and service life of the generator, so the lubrication system should be checked before using the diesel generator set.

The steps of daily inspection and lubrication system of diesel generator set are as follows:
       1. Check whether there is oil leakage at the oil pipe and pipe joints, and solve the problem in time.
       2. Check the amount of oil in the oil pan, take out the dipstick next to the crankcase, and observe whether the height of the oil level meets the requirements of the regulations, otherwise, add oil. For diesel engines, add No. 8 or No. 11 diesel engine oil in winter and No. 11 in summer. Add No. 14 oil.
During inspection, if the oil level is found to be higher than the specified height, the reasons for the increase in oil should be carefully analyzed. There are usually three reasons.
       a. When adding oil, add too much.
       b. Diesel oil leaks into the crankcase, and the oil is diluted.
       c. Cooling water leaks into the oil.
       3. The oil holes that need manual lubrication must be filled with engine oil and oiled with a grease gun.

In addition to daily inspection, the user should also perform regular maintenance on the lubrication system of the generator set. The maintenance cycle of the lubrication system is once every 200 hours of operation. Daily inspection and regular maintenance can help prolong the service life of the generator and reduce the failure rate of the unit.
