Common diesel generator battery four categories

April 14, 2022
Commonly used diesel generator set batteries are mainly divided into four categories, namely ordinary batteries, dry-charge batteries, wet-charge batteries and maintenance-free batteries. Users can purchase batteries suitable for the unit according to their actual needs. Here, JUNVOCH Company especially recommends maintenance-free batteries to help you better start the journey of using diesel generator sets.

Commonly used diesel generator batteries (also called "batteries") are mainly divided into four categories, namely ordinary batteries, dry-charge batteries, wet-charge batteries and maintenance-free batteries.

1. Ordinary battery

The plates of ordinary batteries are composed of lead and lead oxides, and the electrolyte is an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid. Its main advantages are stable voltage and cheap price; its disadvantages are low specific energy (ie, the electric energy stored per kilogram of battery), short service life and frequent daily maintenance.

2. Wet charge battery

The plates of wet-charged batteries are in a state of charge, with a small amount of electrolyte, and most of the electrolyte is sucked into the separator and stored in the plates.

3. Dry charge battery

The full name of dry-charged battery is dry-charged lead-acid battery. Its main feature is that the negative plate has a high power storage capacity. In a completely dry state, the obtained power can be stored within two years. Add electrolyte and wait 20-30 minutes before use.

4. Maintenance-free battery

Due to the advantages of its own structure, the maintenance-free battery consumes a very small amount of electrolyte, and basically does not need to add distilled water during its service life. It also has the characteristics of shock resistance, high temperature resistance, small size and small self-discharge. The service life is generally twice that of ordinary batteries. There are also two types of maintenance-free batteries on the market: the first one requires no maintenance (adding supplementary fluid) after one-time addition of electrolyte at the time of purchase; the other is that the battery itself has been added with electrolyte and sealed when it leaves the factory. , the user simply cannot add refill.
