Do you know the correct maintenance procedures for Cummins diesel generator sets?

June 01, 2022
We all know that maintenance and maintenance are the most effective and economical way to ensure the normal operation of diesel generator sets. In addition to seasonal maintenance, users cannot ignore the daily maintenance of diesel generator sets. Correct maintenance and maintenance procedures, only by strictly complying with various maintenance specifications, can ensure the normal use of diesel generator sets, prolong their service life and reduce operating costs.

       1. Daily inspection items
       1. Lubricating oil liquid level. The generator should check the lubricating oil liquid level once every 8 hours or one job. The oil level should be placed between the upper and lower scales of the oil dipstick. If it is insufficient, it should be added in time.
       2. The coolant level should keep the coolant level of the generator radiator higher than the working level. If it is insufficient, it should be increased; at the same time, keep the connecting pipe from leaking to ensure that there is no air in the inner cavity of the cooling system, in order to avoid accelerated corrosion of the radiator , the radiator should be filled with coolant as much as possible;
       Note: The generator uses long-lasting organic coolant and cannot add coolant during the operation of the unit!
       3. Check the appearance of the unit (including line connections) to see if there are any abnormalities such as leakage, falling off, and deformation. Check whether the cable is damaged, if any damage is found, it should be dealt with in time.
       4. Air intake system, check whether there are any abnormal conditions such as leakage, falling off, deformation, etc.
       5. Crankcase ventilation pipe/exhaust system, check whether there is any abnormal situation such as leakage and looseness in the pipeline, and if there is looseness, it should be dealt with in time.

       2. Regular replacement of items
       1. Replace the oil, 100/400/800 (every 400 hours or 4 months) regularly. The oil change should be done after the generator has just stopped and the unit has cooled down. The methods are as follows:
       a) Remove the oil drain plug from the bottom of the side of the oil pan to release the oil. At this time, the impurities are easily discharged with the oil for a week, and the discharged waste oil should be collected to avoid polluting the environment;
       b) Check whether the sealing gasket of the oil drain plug is damaged. If it is damaged, replace it with a new sealing gasket and tighten the torque according to the requirements;
       c) Add new oil to the high mark on the oil dipstick;
       d) Start the generator and check visually for oil leakage;
       e) Stop running, wait for 15 minutes and wait for the standby oil to flow back to the oil pan, then recheck the oil level of the oil dipstick. The oil should be immersed between the upper and lower scales of the oil dipstick near the upper scale, and if it is insufficient, continue to add it.

       2. Replace the oil and fuel filters, 100/400/800 (every 400 hours or 4 months) regularly, and the replacement methods for the two are the same, as follows:
       a) Wipe off the dirt around the oil/fuel filter to avoid the dirt entering the new filter tank when replacing the new filter;
       b) Put the prepared plate under the filter, take out the screw-on filter wrench from the tool box, put it on the oil/fuel filter to be disassembled, clamp it tightly, and turn it counterclockwise forcefully, Remove the oil/fuel filter element;
       Notice:
       a) Remove the old oil and fuel filters and handle them properly.
       b) In order to prevent the fuel from dripping onto the generator heat source and causing a fire, the diesel filter must be shut down when replacing the diesel filter core, and the standby unit can be replaced after cooling down.

       3. Replace the thermostat, every 1200 hours, remove the thermostat from the thermostat seat, check the switch temperature of the thermostat, and replace it if it does not meet the requirements.

       3. Regular inspection items
       1. Air filter, 100/400/800 (every 400 hours or 4 months) regular inspection, take out the filter element and place it on a clean floor and tap it on the clean ground or remove the dust with a brush, and then use compressed air to blow back from the inside out For maintenance, it is strictly forbidden to use water and oil to clean the filter element. After the air filter element is maintained, it should be carefully inspected. Put a light on the inside of the filter element to check. Need to replace new filter.
       2. Intake system, 100/400/800 (every 400 hours or 4 months) regular inspection.
       3. Intercooler, 100/400/800 (every 400 hours or 4 months) regular inspection.
       4. Batteries, cables, connectors, 100/400/800 (every 400 hours or 4 months) are regularly inspected to check the level of the battery electrolyte. If it is insufficient, it needs to be replenished. Check the contact conditions of each connection point of the unit line. Looseness should be dealt with in time.
       5. Valve clearance, 100/400/800 (every 400 hours or 4 months) regular inspection, the technical requirements for valve clearance are, intake valve clearance: 0.60±0.05mm, exhaust valve clearance: 0.650.05mm, valve clearance The adjustment can be achieved by adjusting the valve adjustment screw. When adjusting, first loosen the lock nut, release the adjustment screw properly with a screwdriver, insert the thickness gauge between the rocker arm bridge and the rocker arm, and then properly screw in the adjustment screw until the rocker arm Just press the thickness gauge, and then tighten the lock nut. The correct valve clearance should allow the thickness gauge to be inserted back and forth with slight resistance. Tighten the lock nut after meeting the requirements.
       6. Fan wheel and bolts, 800/1600 (every 800 hours or 8 months) are regularly inspected to check whether the drive belt is damaged and adjust the tension.
       7. Cylinder head bolts, 800/1600 (every 800 hours or 8 months) are regularly inspected and tightened.
       8, radiator and hose, 2000 or 20 months regular inspection and tightening.
       9. The shock absorber should be inspected regularly in 2000 or 20 months to check whether the shock absorber has liquid leakage, collapse and shaking, and visually inspect the thickness of the shock absorber, whether there is deformation or whether the front cover of the shock absorber is high or not. If any change or deformation is found, the shock absorber needs to be replaced.
