How to operate the diesel generator set correctly when it needs to be stopped during operation?

June 01, 2022
Diesel generator set shutdown can be divided into normal shutdown and emergency shutdown. When the shutdown operation is performed, different operations should be carried out according to different situations. Below, Dingbo Power will introduce you to the correct operation of normal shutdown and emergency shutdown in the operation of diesel generator sets. method.
Diesel generator sets

Diesel generator set shutdown can be divided into normal shutdown and emergency shutdown. When the shutdown operation is performed, different operations should be carried out according to different situations. Below, Dingbo Power will introduce you to the correct operation of normal shutdown and emergency shutdown in the operation of diesel generator sets. method.

       normal shutdown
       1. Shutdown: The diesel generator set controlled by the automatic module can be stopped normally by pressing the stop button by hand; the generator set manually controlled can also be stopped normally by turning the key to the "STOP" position.
       2. The load must be unloaded before shutdown, and it is strictly forbidden to stop with load; in general, the unit needs to run at no-load for 3 to 5 minutes before shutdown after unloading.
       3. When connecting or removing the load cable, it must be turned off and the negative terminal of the battery must be removed.

       emergency shutdown
When one of the following situations occurs in the generator set, it must be shut down urgently.
       1. The diesel generator set must be stopped immediately when abnormal noise or odor occurs during startup or operation.
       2. When the oil pressure of the diesel generator set suddenly drops to the limit or there is no oil pressure, the fault light turns red and must be stopped immediately.
       3. When the water temperature of the diesel generator set suddenly rises above the specified value, and the fault light turns red, it must be stopped immediately.
       4. When the output voltage of the diesel generator set exceeds the maximum reading on the meter.
       5. In the event of fire, leakage or other natural disasters that may endanger the safety of diesel generator sets and operators.

At this time, press the emergency stop button or quickly push the fuel injection pump stop control handle to the stop position, the unit will cut off the load quickly and cut off the accelerator immediately, and the red "emergency stop" indicator light will be on. The button needs to be rotated out again to release the emergency stop signal. When the unit is running normally or is supplying power to the equipment, if there is no special emergency situation, it is recommended that users do not arbitrarily perform emergency shutdown operations.

Whether it is a normal shutdown or an emergency shutdown due to a special situation such as a fault, the user should pay attention to carefully check the unit:
       1. Check the engine and engine room for leaks.
       2. Close the fuel valve.
       3. If the unit is to be stopped for a period of time, turn off the main switch.
       4. Drain the fuel and cooling water for long-term shutdown, and charge the battery regularly according to the maintenance specifications.
       5. When the ambient temperature is lower than 5℃, the unit after shutdown must take anti-freezing measures to prevent the body and water tank from freezing and cracking.
