Introduction of main components of diesel generator set

May 17, 2022
Diesel generator set refers to a power machine that uses diesel as fuel and uses diesel engine as power to drive generators to generate electricity. Diesel generator set is a relatively large mechanical equipment. The whole set is generally composed of engine, generator, control box, fuel It is composed of parts such as box, battery for starting and control, protection device, emergency cabinet, etc. Its structure is more complicated and it is more troublesome to maintain. The following JUNVOCH focuses on introducing the main components of diesel engines for the majority of users.

1. Crankshaft and main bearing
The crankshaft is a long shaft installed in the lower part of the cylinder block, and the shaft is equipped with an offset connecting rod journal, that is, the crankpin of the crankshaft, which is used to convert the reciprocating motion of the piston connecting rod into a rotary motion. Oil supply passages are drilled inside the crankshaft to supply lubricating oil to the main and connecting rod bearings. The main bearing that supports the crankshaft in the cylinder block is a sliding bearing.

2. Cylinder block
The cylinder block is the skeleton of an internal combustion engine, and all other components of the diesel engine are mounted on the cylinder block with screws or other connections. The cylinder block has many threaded holes for bolting to other components. There are also holes or supports for supporting Quzhou in the cylinder body; drilling holes for supporting camshafts; cylinder holes that can be installed into cylinder liners.

3. Pistons, piston rings and connecting rods
The function of the piston and the piston rings installed in its ring groove is to transmit the pressure of fuel and air combustion to the connecting rod connected to the crankshaft. The role of the connecting rod is to connect the piston to the crankshaft. Connecting the piston to the connecting rod is the piston pin, which is usually fully floating (floating the piston pin to both the piston and connecting rod).

4. Camshaft and timing gear
In diesel engines, the camshaft controls the intake and exhaust valves; in some diesel engines, it can also drive the lubricating oil pump or the fuel injection pump. The camshaft is timed by the crankshaft through a timing gear or camshaft gear engaged with the crankshaft front gear. This not only drives the camshaft, but also ensures that the valve of the diesel engine can be in an accurate position with the crankshaft and piston.

5. Cylinder head and valve
The main function of the cylinder head is to provide a cover for the cylinder. In addition, the cylinder head consists of intake and exhaust ports that allow air to enter the cylinder and exhaust gas to escape. These ports are opened and closed by actuated valves housed in the valve ducts on the cylinder head.

6. Fuel system
According to the load and speed of the diesel engine, the fuel system injects the exact amount of fuel into the cylinders of the diesel engine at the exact moment.

7. Supercharger
The supercharger is an exhaust-driven air pump that supplies pressurized air to the diesel engine. This increase in pressure, called boost, increases the efficiency of the diesel engine.
