Diesel generator

(1) electromagnetic switch transmission device
 
In many starters, there is a drive rod connected to the other end of the armature in the solenoid coil. This drive rod is used to bring the drive gear into engagement with the flywheel ring, as shown in Figure 1-1. The movement of the armature moves the drive gear in the opposite direction through the drive rod. The movement of the drive rod is designed to bring the drive gear into full engagement with the flywheel ring before the electromagnetic switch turns on the high current contact. This ensures that the drive gear enters engagement before the starter runs.
 
(2) Friction plate type transmission device
 
Some diesel engines are equipped with a friction plate clutch transmission.
 
 
 
Working principle: When the electromagnetic switch circuit is turned on, the armature inside the electromagnetic switch is attracted by the iron core to move to the right, and the lower end of the fork moves to the left through the slip ring and buffer spring, so that the spiral casing moves to the left while rotating around the shaft, thus preventing the teeth on the starter gear from engaging with the teeth on the flywheel ring.
 
When the starter gear engages with the flywheel ring, the contact piece of the electromagnetic switch presses on the two contacts to turn on the starting circuit of the starter. Due to a certain speed difference between the combined drum and the spiral casing, the combined drum moves to the left by inertia along the spiral spline on the spiral casing, so the active friction plate presses the driven friction plate, and under the action of friction, the active friction plate forces the driven friction plate to drive the combined drum and gear to rotate together. But because of the diesel engine starting resistance is very large, the gear does not start to rotate, thus forcing the inner bond drum on the spiral sleeve continues to move to the left, so that the active friction plate more pressure on the driven friction plate. When the torque that can be transferred between the friction plate increases to overcome the resistance of the diesel engine, the starter gear will drive the flywheel to rotate.
 
When the diesel generator is started, the flywheel becomes the main wheel, which in turn drives the starter gear to rotate. When the speed of the gear exceeds the speed of the spiral casing, the inner combined drum moves to the right under the action of the speed difference, so that the driven friction plate and the active friction plate are separated, and the torque of the crankshaft cannot be transmitted to the starter shaft, thus avoiding damage to the starter armature due to ultra-high speed rotation.
 
When the starter load is too large, the pressure ring flange pressed on the outer edge of the elastic ring pressure increases, so that the outer edge of the elastic ring bends to the left, when the central part of the elastic ring topped the raised part of the inner union drum, limiting the inner union drum continues to move to the left, that is, to limit and active friction plate and driven friction plate between the degree of pressure, the clutch began to slip, thus avoiding damage to the starter due to excessive load.
 
After the starter button is disconnected, the core suction force disappears and the return spring causes the armature to move to the left, causing the slip ring, spiral sleeve and outer bond drum to move to the right through the fork, and the gear is then disconnected from the flywheel ring.
