The engine room requirements of diesel generator sets involve many aspects, such as environmental requirements and space requirements. As we all know, diesel generator sets are large in size and require special space to accommodate these machines. So what are the requirements for the engine room of diesel generator sets?

       The engine room requirements of diesel generator sets involve many aspects, such as environmental requirements and space requirements. As we all know, diesel generator sets are large in size and require special space to accommodate these machines. So what are the requirements for the engine room of diesel generator sets?

       1. Space
       In order to reduce the impact of unit noise and emissions on residents, the location of the generator room should be as far away from the residential area as possible, and it should be built on an open site. The machine room should be as far as possible to facilitate the entry and exit of the unit and its accessories, as well as ventilation and heat dissipation. The space of the machine room should fully consider the volume of the unit and its accessories to ensure that the unit and accessories have enough installation space.

2. Ventilation and dust prevention
       The two aspects of ventilation and dust prevention are actually contradictory. If the equipment room is to be well ventilated, the dustproof performance must be appropriately reduced, and excessive consideration of dust prevention will affect the ventilation of the equipment room. This requires the computer room designer to calculate and coordinate according to the actual situation. The calculation of ventilation mainly involves the air intake system and exhaust system of the computer room. It is calculated according to the gas volume required for the combustion of the unit and the ventilation volume required for the heat dissipation of the unit. The sum of the gas volume and the ventilation volume is the ventilation volume of the computer room. Of course, this is a variable value that varies with the temperature rise of the random room.

       The ventilation problem of the diesel generator room is a problem that should be paid special attention to in the design of the engine room, especially when the engine room is located in the basement, otherwise it will directly affect the operation of the diesel engine generator set.

       The exhaust air of the unit should generally be set up with hot air ducts to be carried out in an organized manner.

       There should be enough fresh air in the computer room. When the diesel engine is running, the ventilation volume of the engine room should be equal to or greater than the sum of the fresh air volume required for combustion of the diesel engine and the fresh air volume required to maintain the room temperature.

       The amount of fresh air required to maintain room temperature is calculated by the following formula:
       C=0.078PT

       In the formula: C——the required fresh air volume (m3/s) P——the rated power of the diesel engine (kW) T——the temperature rise of the engine room (°C).

       Usually, the ventilation volume of the computer room is calculated based on the temperature rise of the computer room being controlled within 5℃-10℃, which is also a relatively high requirement. The gas volume and ventilation volume when the temperature rise of the computer room is controlled within 5℃-10℃ is the ventilation volume of the computer room at this time, and the size of the air inlet and exhaust can be calculated according to the ventilation volume. The equipment room is not well dustproof, which will also cause harm to the equipment. In the case of ensuring the ventilation of the equipment room, taking into account the dustproof effect of the equipment room at the same time, install air intake and exhaust louvers to ensure the air quality and air volume of the equipment room.
