What are the hazards of exhaust gas emitted by diesel generator sets?

May 23, 2022
In the process of diesel generator set, if the fuel is not fully burned, many harmful substances will be emitted, and the noise and radio wave radiation during operation will also pollute the environment. The main pollutants emitted by diesel engines are NO and PM, which are harmful to humans, animals and plants. The degree of harm of pollutants depends on the toxicity of these harmful substances, the concentration in the air, and the time of inhaling the contaminated air.

What is the danger of these exhaust gases?

       1.NO
NO is a colorless but mildly irritating gas. When the concentration is low, it has no obvious effect on human health. When the concentration is high, it may cause central nervous system disorders in humans and animals.
       2.PM (particles)
Particles in diesel generator set exhaust refer to substances other than water that are collected by PTFE-coated glass fiber filter paper after being diluted with air and the temperature dropped to 52°C. The harm of particles to the human body is related to the size and composition of the particles, and it is usually more harmful to human lungs and bronchi.
       3. Hydrocarbons
Hydrocarbons include unburned and incompletely burned fuel oil, lubricating oil and its cracking products and some oxides. Excessive inhalation of hydrocarbons by the human body can disrupt hematopoiesis, cause anemia, neurasthenia, and reduce lung resistance to infectious diseases.

Exhaust gas pollution has a profound impact on the human body and the environment, so the treatment of exhaust gas is a concern of many users. The following diesel generator set manufacturer Dingbo Power will introduce several methods for treating exhaust gas for your reference.
       1. Wet water treatment, which is a relatively simple method, directly filters the exhaust gas with water, and the effect is not obvious.
       2. For dry smoky removal treatment, a suitable purification device can be selected according to the emission amount, but it only has the effect of removing smoky smoke.
       3. Dry removal of harmful substances. Filter out harmful substances such as CO, HC, NOx, SO2 in the exhaust gas, so as to meet the national emission standards.

At present, there is no special emission standard for diesel generator pollutants. The emission of air pollutants from diesel generators refers to the "Comprehensive Emission Standard of Air Pollutants" (GB 16297-1997). Users should pay attention to the control of diesel generator exhaust gas not only to control the blackness of flue gas, but also to control sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. The majority of users need to choose the appropriate waste gas treatment method according to the actual situation, effectively control the waste gas, reduce the pollution caused by the exhaust gas of the unit, and create a good working environment.
