When the diesel generator sets work, the fuel burning in the cylinder will produce a lot of heat, and 1/3 of the heat will be absorbed by the parts of the set (such as cylinder liner, cylinder head, piston, valve, etc.), if they are not cooled in time, the moving parts may be damaged by heat expansion and normal clearance, or jammed due to lubricant failure, and the mechanical strength of the parts may be reduced or even damaged due to high temperature. And lead to a reduction in cylinder inflation and abnormal combustion. Therefore, in order to ensure the normal work of the diesel generator set, must be given to these high temperature working parts to be cooled, according to the different cooling media, the current diesel generator set cooling system can be divided into air-cooled cooling and water-cooled cooling two.
 
1, wind cooling method is to air as a cooling medium, so it can also be called air cooling, it is generated by the fan to adjust the movement of air directly to the diesel engine heated parts of the heat transfer out, so that the diesel generator in the most suitable temperature work, this cooling method by the cooling fan and guide cover, etc., compared with the water-cooled system, air-cooled system has fewer parts, simple structure, lighter weight, the use of Compared with the water-cooled system, the air-cooled system has the advantages of fewer parts, simpler structure, lighter weight, easier use and better adaptability to regional environmental changes.
 
In order to increase heat dissipation cotton knot, usually in the cylinder block, cylinder head and each radiator on the outer wall are cast with a lot of folding heat sink. 2, water cooling method is to use water as the cooling medium, the diesel engine heat parts of the heat to convey out. This cooling method has the advantages of more uniform cooling, can make the diesel generator stable in the most favorable water temperature, low noise during operation, when the temperature or work load changes, more convenient to adjust the cooling intensity.
 
There are two types of water cooling methods: open and closed. Open cooling system, the circulating water directly with the atmosphere, the steam pressure in the cooling system is always maintained as atmospheric pressure. In the closed system, the water is circulated in the closed system, and the vapor pressure in the cooling system is greater than the atmospheric pressure, which increases the temperature difference between the cooling water temperature and the outside air temperature, thus improving the cooling system's cooling capacity.
 
The working temperature of the diesel generator set is too high or too low will reduce its power and economy, the function of the cooling system is to maintain the most suitable working temperature of the unit, to play its good economy, power and reliability, durability, the current two cooling systems have advantages and disadvantages, comprehensive actual use, the majority of diesel generators are currently using water-cooled cooling system, for the cooling system cooling water The requirement is to use soft water, not directly use seawater or well water hard water, in the cold season and cold areas all year round should also add the appropriate antifreeze and rust inhibitor.
