The first point of purchase: the stator coil of the generator
 
The stator coil was originally made of all copper wire, but with the improvement of wire making technology, copper clad aluminum core wire appeared. Different from copper-plated aluminum wire, copper-clad aluminum core wire is made of copper-clad aluminum using special molds when drawing the wire, and the copper layer is much thicker than copper-plated. The performance of the generator stator coil using copper-clad aluminum core wire is not much different, but the service life is much shorter than that of the all-copper wire stator coil. The second point of purchase: the excitation method of the generator
 
The generator excitation mode is divided into phase compound excitation type and brushless self-excitation type. The brushless self-excitation type has become the mainstream with the advantages of stable excitation and simple maintenance, but there are still some manufacturers who configure phase compound excitation generators in generator sets below 300KW due to cost considerations.
