1. Lighting method

On a sunny day, use a screwdriver to hold the lube at a 45-degree angle to the horizontal. Observe the oil droplets in the sun. In the light, it is clear that there is no wear residue in the lubricating oil, no residue can continue to work, if there is too much wear debris, the lubricant should be changed.

 

2. Oil drop tracking method

Take a clean white filter paper and put a few drops of oil on the filter paper. After an oil spill, a good lubricant is powder free, dry and smooth to the touch with yellow spots. If there is black powder on the surface and it feels like it is touched by hand, it means that there are many impurities in the lubricating oil and should be replaced with a new lubricating oil.

 

3. Hand twist

Grind the oil between thumb and index finger repeatedly. A good lube feels lubricated, less wear debris, and no friction. If you feel a lot of friction between your fingers, it means that there are a lot of impurities in the lubricating oil, such oil cannot be reused, and new lubricating oil should be replaced.

 

4. Oil flow observation method

 Take two measuring cups, one with the lube to be checked and the other on the table, then lift the measuring cup with the lubricating oil 30-40 cm off the table and tilt it so that the lubricating oil will flow slowly to the empty cup , Observe the flow, the high-quality lubricating oil flow should be slender, uniform and continuous. If the oil flow is fast and slow, and sometimes the flow is large, it means that the lubricating oil has deteriorated.
